I like 2-stroke sound and its technical simplicity. Smoke is not bad, if there is right amount of oil. I do not believe that environmental problems are large, if 2-stroke engine is used occasionally. 1000-4000 km/year.

To me LML is like pasta carbonara made in India. With too much boiled pasta. There is nothing Italian on it.  ;)

I don't know for sure where my GTS is made. Maybe it's better that I don't know. But it still have sheet metal body, and real "Vespa" badges.

Ahah this is incredible for me to hear :D The majority of Italian Vespa and Scooter clubs are almost accused of being racist against GTS (and all the other frullovespe), while they accept LML big time! The carbonara theory is interesting though! ;D Anyway... i've like a feeling i won't go anywhere with my PX200 restoration... gotta find a solution... Spring is coming soon!

Maybe you just follow different clubs than me? There sure is many people who like GT/GTS/GTV. It's modern Vespa for everyday use. Some people use it just for traveling to work, without romantic. Still it can be only a hobby, like for me.  ;)

I could understand LML Star somehow if it's cheap, but I don't think it is. At least here in Finland.

How badly your Vespa is rusted? These days many people likes used and old appearance. It's more authentic. Ofcourse if you can see thru sheet metal, it's not safety anymore.

Vespa's return is only a decade here in Finland. It was a three decade  period when they have not seen the traffic at all, or at least very rarely. Cold and snowy winter prevents most of a year-round utilization. Garage space is hard to get for motorbike's and it prevents the practice of collection. High costs of the work we are already discussed.

You are an Italian? There is also snow in the winter in the north. Is being run on there at that time? The issue is close because I drive in the winter. I have to, but I also like it a lot. I own a Chinese scooter moped and vespa is just a dream.

Here, used the road-salt in winter to reduce the slippery of the roads due to vehicles rust more quickly. Moisture and dirt will also damage.

Yes im italian, from the middle italy, i grew up on scooters, my first was a moped (we make difference between moped and scooters) at the age of 14, obviously from Piaggio, called Piaggio Sì: http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piaggio_Si . I used to drive them everyday with every weather condition. No snow in my hometown though, it is by the sea and the temperature rarely gets close to zero. In the north of course is different, but generally in Italy you can ride your scooter almost 12 months a year if you're lucky cause snow doesnt stay there forever like in here. I couldnt believe there has been no Vespas in the streets of Finland for almost 30 years! In Sweden, which is certainly not a warm country, there's a quite big scooter scene. And Uk is not the hottest country in Europe either, though is certainly warmer than Finland...

I know what you mean by that style, we call it "conservato" like originally old, a bit warned out, maybe even rusty, but cool. Well it's not my case. My Vespa has been re-spayed (and not professionally painted) in a neutral white, not her original Max Meyer 1001. The mudguard has had an accident so it must be fixed, there's rusty parts here and there: engine, toolbox, rims, hub, fork, tank. The saddle should be changed, the tunnel behind the toolbox hasnt been re-painted. Pretty much i think that the ex owner re-sprayed her all without "treating" her before. I bought it (in Sweden) cause it was 200cc, the price was ok, and i thought with a cheap restoration i could have a prestigious arcobaleno series but i was wrong. There are no "carrozzieri" in the whole Finland, noone who treats just the bodies of  the machines! In Italy even in small villages there are at least 1 or 2. I guess was my fault cause I should've asked around before...  :-\ I could maybe sell it to someone who's interested in her engine and/or has time and space to restore her. I'd probably buy an LML Star (if there'll be some decent service in Helsinki) or a PX 150 2011... dont know yet.... If someone is interested can contact me. Btw is there any other Vespa forum or this is the most popular?
